When putting together this site, I chose to start with Hugo. It has been several years since I have put together a site from scratch, and after managing software packages, figuring out (with help) how to install “the extended version” of Hugo via the asdf package manager, I was able to build a template site locally. “Success!”

The Hugo theme Hinode is fantastic, but not a starting point for me on day one of building a new site. That said, I am heavily considering returning to this theme because it is so good and well maintained.

What knowledge did I use to get here?

For general context, I use technology because I want to get things done that are important to me, rather than using technology for its own sake.

It is no wonder that things take time, and without some of these skills, accomplishing an alpha site launch might not have been possible.
